Students from four Kanawha County After School Programs were gifted brand new jackets and a new pair of gloves Thursday afternoon.
All items were donated by local community members. Majority of the donations were received in a charity basketball game earlier this month.
Close to 100 jackets were donated. Each child got a new pair of gloves as well, just in time for the new year.
“I think it means a lot to the kids,” said Step-By-Step Program Manager, Michael Farmer.
Farmer added, “It’s one thing that the kids are being given a tangible gift to fulfill a need, but it is also good that they see the community coming together to help and provide for their needs.”
